2010 marks the 50th Anniversary of Oliver’s world premiere. It has been 22 years since this ever popular musical was staged by Northern Light.
This new version had its premiere at the London Palladium in 1994. Producer Cameron Mackintosh in collaboration with the original writer, Lionel Bart has done some extensive re-writes. While keeping to the well loved Dickens’ story they have given the characters more depth and tightened the plot bringing it closer to the movie. All the favourite songs remain, but this version also has new orchestrations by the orchestrator of Miss Saigon and Witches of Eastwick.
Since its opening in 1994 Cameron Mackintosh’s Oliver played for over four year on the West End before going on tour, followed by a stint on Broadway! Now it is back on the West End, currently playing at The Theatre Royal Drury Lane, London.
We are very excited that soon it will be playing at the Shedley Theatre, SA.
