'SCROOGE - The Musical' is based on the wonderful Charles Dickens story 'A Christmas Carol', which tells how, one Christmas, the miserly and miserable Ebenezer Scrooge is introduced to what he has missed because of his past behaviour, and what will befall him if he doesn't change his ways. As a consequence of seeing what others enjoy at Christmas, he learns to appreciate the people around him and to love life; what a wonderful Christmas message, now beautifully illuminated by the music of Lesley Bricusse.
This show has everything from ghosts with chains to Christmas pud. The music includes wonderful tunes like “Thank You Very Much”, “Happiness”, “I like Life” and “Father Christmas” with a few carols thrown in for good measure. It may make you think, but mostly it will give you a warm glow, just like Christmas should.

Ever wondered what would happen if HMS Pinafore was visited by the Mikado, then invaded by the Pirates of Penzance? Well why not come and see this Great and Sensational cocktail of Gilbert and Sullivan’s trilogy of hits. A slash of Pirates, a dash of Mikado and a splash of Pinafore promises to deliver some of Northern’s favourite characters along with wonderful music from all three shows.
The hilarity begins with a spelling mistake! The Mikado thinks he has been invited to a beheading! Sir Joseph believes he is attending his wedding. There is nothing the Mikado likes more than a good beheading – he’s not happy! They’re looking for a substitute, so don’t lose your head!
Damon Hill, memorable in his roles as Major General Stanley, Ko Ko and Sir Joseph Porter, is totally responsible for this wickedly funny script. Ceri Hutton-Horner, who directed Northern’s previous G&S productions and is fresh from winning the Messenger award for best direction of a musical (2004 - Copacabana), will put her own special twist on this production. Of course she will be ably assisted by her previous co-conspirators, Musical Director Mark Horner and Choreographer Kerreane Sarti.
Many of our original cast members have returned to reprise their roles - Mandi Hill, Chris Eaton, Craig Brooker, Carolyn Mesecke, Sue Pole, Peta Nievelstein and Michael Williams, to mention a few. They will be joined by recent additions Steve Rudd, Ellyanne Bradford, Gareth Wilkes, Stevan Squires and Rodney Hutton (Messenger Award for Best Leading Man 2004 – Copacabana).
To make sure that this complete mayhem is well dressed, Ann Humphries (Messenger Award for Best Costumes 2004) will again be responsible for the colourful garments of the wonderful G&S characters.
